LATERAL – CROSSOVER RUNS

LATERAL – CROSSOVER RUNS
DYNAMIC MOVEMENT
Dynamic Movements involve the second half of our Integrated Movement Prep. These movements are performed in a more rapid fashion. Improving muscle pliability, dynamic flexibility, helping establish better nervous system firing patterns by attempting to replicate specific movement patterns. They are performed both stationary or transit and have either a linear or lateral emphasis. It is important that these movements be performed in order when prescribed in a Dynamic Warm-up sequence.
TRANSIT / LATERAL
These Integrated Movement Patterns are categorized as Transit, with transitional movement, for Lateral Specific Speed Mechanic Drills.
Crossover Runs
- Perform repetitive Step-Overs in a lateral run fashion
- Stand in athletic position, lateral to direction of travel
- Work on Step-Over Technique, stepping over the opposite knee without crossing under
- Learn to land on the inside edge of the Step Over foot, as well utilizing the outside edge of the underside foot to push off
- Hand action should go from chin to hip, elbow 90°, arms opposite foot action
- Attempt to cover as much ground as possible with each stride
- Learning to use both feet and edges during crossovers is vital to improving proper skating mechanics and ultimately lateral speed.
