MED BALL FORWARD SCOOP TOSS / OFF LEG
Off Leg is tossing the ball from the same side as your lead leg. Mimicking a shot often used to surprise a goalie shooting off stride. It requires an exceptional shoulder turn with a powerful open, instead of shut, hip turn. This toss also requires tremendous balance.
Med Ball Forward Scoop Toss / Off Leg: Half Kneel
- The Primary Focus of Half Kneel Off Leg Forward Scoop Toss is Shoulder Turn in attempt to toss/shoot around your forward (Off) leg
- Stance: Position yourself in a half kneel position, knees hip width, at arm’s length and facing the wall. Kneel as tall as possible.
- Hand Placement: Place both hands behind and slightly to the side of the ball. Fingers should be pointing away with thumbs pointed up at address.
- Shoulder Turn: Begin your takeaway by turning your shoulders 90° away from the wall around your forward (Off) knee. Arms should be relatively straight. Take the ball back slightly behind your hip to the forward leg side.
- Toss the ball as hard as you can, driving your hands and inside shoulder towards the wall. Pull your trail shoulder back to accelerate your shoulder turn.
- Lean slightly forward during the toss
- Release: Have your hands follow the ball to the wall.
- Finish: Finish Tall, hips and shoulders square to the wall in a very stable position. The more stable you are, the harder you will throw.
- Attempt to hold your finish for 2 sec.
- Effort: The MB Toss must be performed with 100% Effort. You cannot throw the MB hard enough
