DEPTH DROP / 2 HURDLE JUMPS / BOX JUMP / DEPTH DROP
FORWARD JUMP HYBRIDS
Hybrids are a combination of vertical and linear jumps usually reserved for older, more athletically mature players. The forces generated with multiple jumps with varying levels of difficulty should be reserved for players with a lot of training, strength and experience. The height of the boxes and hurdles will also vary.
Forward Jump Hybrids: Depth Drop / 2 Hurdle Jumps / Box Jump / Depth Drop
- This sequence starts with a Depth Drop, typically 18-24”
- Followed immediately, without pause to a double hurdle jump. Hurdle height is 12” – 24”
- Followed immediately to a box Jump 24-36”
- Both hurdle height and box height are dependent upon athletic ability
- Keep your hip joint above your knee joint upon landing. If not, the jump box is too high
- Land with a pause with both feet entirely on the box
- Adding a depth drop coming off the box is also an option to allow continued work on deceleration strength
- Step off the Box and stick the landing for 2 sec
